Voor mij is blijheid simpel: doen wat je leuk vindt en daar goed in zijn, zo ook met mijn werk als fotograaf

Of het nu gaat om een prachtig interieur of een uitdagend exterieur, de kunst is om beelden zo vast te leggen dat ze de realiteit weergeven, maar dan nog mooier. De echte uitdaging ligt in het spelen met licht, vooral menglicht, om de kleuren en materialen die een designer heeft gekozen voor dat interieur volledig tot hun recht te laten komen. Zo komen kleur en stofindrukken geweldig naar voren door de techniek die ik gebruik. Denk aan een blauwe bank, die ondanks het aanwezige kunstlicht, altijd blauw blijft en niet een gele gloed krijgt. Dit soort subtiele, maar belangrijke details maken het verschil.

Ik heb veel met licht geëxperimenteerd om dit te kunnen realiseren in mijn opnamen.

Daarnaast zorg ik altijd voor een natuurlijk strijklicht, alsof er daglicht binnenvalt, zodat de ruimte – of het nu een hotelkamer of een residentie is – fris en uitnodigend aanvoelt. Dit strijklicht zorgt voor een mooie natuurlijke “flow” van licht in de ruimte. Dit is essentieel voor de ‘guest experience’,  in hotels.

For me, happiness is simple: doing what you like and being good at it, and that is also the case with my work as a photographer.

Whether it is a beautiful interior or a challenging exterior, the trick is to capture images in such a way that reflects reality, but then even more beautiful. The real challenge lies in playing with light, especially mixed light, to fully do justice to the colours and materials that a designer has chosen for that interior. Colour and fabric impressions are beautifully highlighted by the technique I use. Think of a blue sofa, which, despite the artificial light present, always remains blue and does not get a yellow glow. These kinds of subtle, but important details make the difference.

I have experimented a lot with light to be able to realise this in my shots.

In addition, I always ensure a natural grazing light, as if daylight is entering, so that the space, whether it is a hotel room or a residence, feels fresh and inviting. This grazing light ensures a beautiful natural “flow” of light in the space. This is essential for the “guest experience” in hotels.
